Pets
A page dedicated to just her pets, you say? Absolutely frickin' right, I say.
Mama
Mama's an adorable American Staffordshire Terrier from Lexington, Kentucky. My Dad and I adopted her when she was 1 in 2008.
She lived in Kentucky with my Dad up until late 2020, when my Dad needed to move for a job and wouldn't have housing for a while. He called to tell me the news and I told him I would drive up the next day to get her and bring her home.
She was absolutely the brightest spot of my 2020.
Sadly, she passed away from complications from cancer in April 2021.
She loved bodies of water, whether it was oceans, ponds, or rivers. Her happy place was retrieving sticks from the water for hours.
Squid
Squid came into my life in 2019 when I drunkenly agreed via text on vacation in Las Vegas to take in a friend of a friend's cat who they just learned they couldn't bring with them to Hawaii.
It was a rocky start, but he eventually came to accept me as his person, becoming the world's biggest baby.
He hates straws, loves ice cream (most food, really), drinks water from the sink almost exclusively, and actually isn't a fan of fish or his namesake.
Yeti
I adopted Yeti in October of 2021, just shy of a month after buying a house (because really, what is a house with a backyard if you don't have a dog?)
He's a 2 year old American Pitbull Terrier with endless energy who loves toys, zooming around in water, and going on walks.
Yeti's an amazing hiking partner and who's always up for adventures!
Badger
I adopted Badger a few months after Mama passed away. Growing up, my mom worked with the humane society to foster cats and kittens, and it was always bittersweet when they were adopted.
I had wanted a kitten of my own since then, and knew that I wanted a tuxedo boy. So when I saw his face on Petfinder, I immediately applied.
I like to joke that Badger is half cat, half dog, since he was raised with both. He has a penchant for bleps (see above), smacks me awake for his breakfast between 7:30-8:00 AM every morning, and is an absolute sweetheart (when he's not smacking me awake, anyway.)
